PETALING JAYA: Overseas returnees are urged to go for the second screening of Covid-19 tests, which takes place on the 13th day of their home quarantine period, otherwise the police will come to take them for screening, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Senior Minister said this after being asked to comment on the Health Ministry’s statement on June 30, that 1,472 individuals on home quarantine had yet to undergo the Covid-19 screening on the 13th day.
He said action can be taken against those who refuse to go for the second screening as it violates the home supervision and observation order under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 . “Although we allow home quarantine, there are standard operating procedures that need to be adhered to, such as wearing the wristband and not leaving one’s house , ” he said.“If the individual tests negative during the second screening, then the wristband can be removed, ” he said.
He urged the 1,472 individuals to undergo the second screening, otherwise police will be sent to escort them to the screening places.Article type: free
