DollarGeneral and FamilyDollar stores in Cuyahoga County have failed inspections more than 50 times since 2021. “A big company is stealing a little bit of money from a lot of poor people,” former Ohio AG Marc Dann said.
Inspectors visited 14 Dollar General stores in Summit County in late December to see if items were ringing up correctly. All 14 failed inspections, according to county records.
Dann in October filed a lawsuit against Dollar General in Lorain County. The suit has been moved to federal court. He has Of the 407 items scanned, 17 were cheaper at the register than advertised, 59 were more expensive. Usually, the error was within $1. Sheryl Harris, director of the Cuyahoga County Department of Consumer Affairs, said this many failed inspections at one chain is outside the norm.
