JOHOR BARU: A total of RM43,400 has been raised for the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Hospital project via a charity sale by the Pasir Gudang MCA.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong in a Facebook post on Sunday said that the fundraising campaign was organised by Pasir Gudang MCA division chief Tan Tuan Peng and Johor Jaya MCA coordinator Chan San San.
The Ayer Hitam MP also said that Ang Li Joe, the owner of A&O Food Industries Sdn Bhd, donated 334kg of tiger prawns to be sold at the event."I am touched to see the support and positive response from the general public for the UTAR Hospital development project," he said. UTAR Hospital aims to offer high-quality, reasonably priced healthcare services in both western and alternative medicine, which comprises Chinese, ayurvedic and traditional Malay medicine.
Tan said that this was the second charity sale Pasir Gudang MCA organised after a durian charity sale on July 3, which managed to raise RM34,000. "We hope we can organise more fundraising events in the future," he said, adding that the campaign will end on Sept 30.
