KOTA KINABALU: A total of 212 illegals from Indonesia were deported to their home country on Thursday (April 13) via sea route under a state Immigration Department programme.

They left through Tawau Port headed for Nunukan Port in Indonesia, said Sabah Immigration director Datuk Sitti Saleha Habib Yusoff in a statement on Friday ."The group involved those from immigration depots in Kota Kinabalu, Papar and Sandakan and the programme was carried out with the cooperation of the Indonesian Consulate-General.

"The immigrants held at the depots have conducted various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963," she said. In a separate case, Sitti Saleha said that a break-in incident was reported at the Tenom Immigration office in Sabah's interior division early Thursday . "The security guard on duty was attacked by two suspects and suffered injuries on his palms and was tied up, before they proceeded to enter through the office back door by cutting the door grille and breaking the door between 1am and 2am."The police forensics team all the way from Kota Kinabalu arrived at the scene at 10.30am to make further investigation, and based on initial checks, no office equipment was damaged.

She also reminded the public not to issue and circulate any speculative statement or information in any platforms on this matter.
