Over 100 mothers from Natonin, Mt. Province received free breast exam and cervical cancer screening from the GMA Kapuso Foundation ahead of Mother's Day.
According to a report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, among the beneficiaries is Maribel May-ag, 46 years old and a single mother of seven children. She earns a living by carrying heavy loads like a gas tank or sacks of goods. Her pay is P3.00 per kilo. She also makes brooms and sells them as a sideline. "Kahit masakit ang katawan, talagang pinipilit ko para may pambili ng pagkain ang mga bata," she said.
In celebration of Mother's Day, the GMA Kapuso Foundation gave Maribel and 103 other moms from Natonin a checkup to ensure their reproductive health."Ito po ay ginagawa pamalit ng pap smear usually sa mga areas na wala pa tayong kagamitan, said Precious Grace M. Amoyen, Medical Officer IV, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.
