KUALA LUMPUR: The police force does not want to hand over the power to take disciplinary action against its personnel to the proposed Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said that about 130,000 serving police personnel and retired personnel had voiced their opposition as a whole on the matter.

“We will register our opposition on this matter and have written a letter to government leaders,” he told reporters after launching the PDRM Mess Book at Bukit Aman on Thursday . Meanwhile, Persatuan Pegawai Kanan president Senior Asst Comm Sulaiman Yahaya said their main contention was on the IPCMC taking over disciplinary powers.“The main reason we are opposing this is because it is an outside body.
