Set in Wyoming, Outer Range follows ranching family the Abbotts, headed by household patriarch Royal . Often described as Yellowstone meets Black Mirror, the neo-Western setting of Outer Range takes a huge sci-fi turn when a mysterious black void appears on the Abbot’s ranch.
While there’s not been an official announcement on the impact of the strikes on the next season of Outer Range, the fact that news has quietened since an update from Josh Brolin in April 2023 suggests Amazon is waiting until the strikes are resolved to continue with season 2. Once the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are resolved it’s likely solid updates on Outer Range will start coming in, especially since — had the strikes not gone ahead — the season 2 release date would likely already be set.
Outer Range Season 2 Cast The cast of Outer Range season 2 will be more-or-less unchanged from the first season. There have been no recast announcements, nor have any of the current stars of the show expressed a desire to leave before the next chapter. The Outer Range season 2 cast will once again be led by Josh Brolin as Royal Abbott, with Lili Taylor as wife and Abbott family matriarch Cecilia.
