Orlando Pirates are reportedly closing in on a major deal for Polokwane City’s Thabang Matuludi and Oswin Appollis. The transfer could involve a player exchange, with Phillip Ndlondlo potentially moving to Polokwane City.
Orlando Pirates ’ transfer window is heating up with key negotiations underway. The club is edging closer to a blockbuster January transfer, negotiating a high-stakes deal for Polokwane City ’s Thabang Matuludi and Oswin Appollis . Sources close to the negotiations suggest that this transfer could redefine the Pirates’ lineup, with a mix of cash and player exchange at the heart of the agreement. Initially, Polokwane City had their sights set on Katlego Otladisa as part of the trade.
However, Otladisa’s recent loan to Sekhukhune United forced both clubs to reconsider the terms. Now, it seems Phillip Ndlondlo, a seasoned midfielder, has emerged as the player likely to be involved. “You remember about the loose ends still to be tied and discussed? One of those is that Polokwane City want to have a player and money from Pirates,” a source revealed. “The initial player that they wanted was Katlego Otladisa, and since that didn’t work out, they are believed to have asked for Phillip Ndlondlo as the player who could be involved in this deal. So, as we speak now, that’s what both teams are looking at, and things could be done sooner than expected.” If Ndlondlo becomes part of the trade, it’s not just the lineup that will change—the financial dynamics of the deal will shift dramatically. “This changes the dynamics of the whole deal,” the source explained. “You know if it was Otladisa involved, they were looking at a player and R15 million for both Appollis and Matuludi. But now that they are apparently talking about Ndlondlo, it changes everything in terms of how much Pirates would be expected to pay to get the two players. So, they are looking at that now.”Phillip Ndlondlo, 29, joined Orlando Pirates during the 2022 registration deadline. In his first two seasons, he was a regular fixture on the field, making numerous appearances
