The Opposition has “run dead” on many crucial issues where they seem too frightened to take an opposing stance against the “leftist Labor line”, according to Sky News host Rita Panahi.
She said the Opposition feels it is on more “secure ground” arguing against the government’s proposed superannuation changes, which include possible cuts to the tax concession and limits on individuals accessing their funds early.
“We can see with a little bit of pressure how badly the Albanese government trails because they are not used to that,” Ms Panahi said. “They have had the longest honeymoon, the media loves them … and yet the Opposition has just had this softly, softly approach and now they are fighting.”

A viral video has emerged of a church preacher who claims God is “gay, trans and non-binary”. “If you don’t actually stand for anything, if your most fundamental principles are able to be bent into whatever shape the activists want, then you are not going to have people devoted to this type of religion,” Ms Panahi said. “Because they can see just how surface level it is, how it has no depth.”

‘Major shift’: Labor’s super plans raise questions about ‘transparency and truthfulness’Labor’s plans for super which were announced this week raise questions about the government’s “commitment to transparency and truthfulness”, says Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton. Steve Price said on The Project he believes Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ comments seem “a lot less about early access to your super than about the tax concessions super has”, and the government will “come after some of those tax concessions”. Mr Houghton said Labor insisting they did not have any intention to make changes to super while in Opposition did not stop the Prime Minister and Assistant Treasurer from “trying to wriggle out of it” this week. Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones told the ABC the comments Labor made before the election have to be “viewed in the context of everything we’ve said about superannuation”. “This is a major shift from what we were told last year, and it goes right to the government's credibility,” Mr Houghton said.
