KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition lawmakers in Parliament stood up to show that they would not support a special motion to compel all MPs to declare their assets.
During the Parliament meeting on Monday , Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan declared that he would defy the special motion to compel the asset declaration.
"If this special motion is approved, I pledge I will be the first not to comply. I will let them take action against me, as it is irregular," he said while debating the motion. Earlier, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong tabled a special motion to compel all lawmakers to declare their assets.
Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that the Parliament's Select Committee on Rights and Privileges Committee was confined to matters referred to it by the August House.
