OPPO Watch X 'WeChat Edition' with standalone app, enabling smartphone-free WeChat use will hit the stores in China from March 29.
. The smartwatch, featuring a built-in independent WeChat app, will be available for purchase starting March 29th, 10:00 AM China time.
This development is particularly significant considering the absence of Google’s Wear OS in China. This has led almost all Chinese brands, with a few exceptions, to adopt RTOS for their wearables.uses ColorOS Watch, built upon AOSP , placing the responsibility for the app ecosystem entirely on their shoulders.
But the biggest news might be the potential for iPhone compatibility. As reported by ITHome, this could be the first instance of a WeChat app on an Android wearable that connects to iOS devices. It is not officially confirmed though.
