Opinion: San Diego voters made the fair choice to raise trash pickup fees [Opinion]

” : San Diego voters got it right to allow for residential trash collection fees just like every other city in the county and joining 478 of California’s 482 municipalities charging trash collection fees in addition to property taxes.

They are set using a state-wide formula based solely on the value of the property, not the services received. The bulk of property taxes go to education and the county with the City of San DiegoThis amendment takes the People’s Ordinance back to its original premise that everyone pays for residential trash collection.
