Opinion: Our independent film theater found a new home at UCSD's Park & Market venue downtown [Opinion]
Starting in April, our state-of-the-art 58-seat movie theater with a full concession stand will be open to the public at the Park & Market building in Downtown San Diego’s East Village, screening foreign and independent movies from noon to 10 p.m., seven days a week. It will be a permanent screen for theand bring many other festivals to our city — our satellite screening of the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year showed us how successful these can be.
Equally, all of San Diego deserves to see what artists of every background are doing. The purpose of Park & Market aligns exactly with our mission of creating equitable, engaged communities where underserved voices are heard — and it makes us part of a space that is giving everyone that access.
