Opinion: Mike Pence classified documents discovery raises some obvious questions [Opinion]
” : Why not have the National Archives staff box up the Classified documents themselves. If anyone has had experience moving they can relate to the happenstance of too many parts to move and tracking each piece of the move.
Imagine boxing up the White House! Let the National Archives be in charge of boxing up the sensitive documents. It would save continued embarrassment. Now that classified documents have been found at former Vice President Pence’s property, it is time to recognize that there are problems with the way classified documents are being handled at the senior executive level of government.
President Biden would help himself if he would come out and admit to his mistake and to say that he is appointing a group or commission to look in to the problem and to come up with a plan to keep classified documents secure. It appears that Biden and Pence have cooperated with the recovery of the documents, Trump not so much. The failure to properly protect and safeguard our nation’s secrets by very senior officials in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, is absolutely appalling.
The more senior the individual, the higher the level of accountability. If junior military personnel are held accountable, so must the senior officials; fully and without regard to who they are and what position they hold/held. No excuses, no exceptions.
