Raymond was hospitalised on June 28 after testing positive for Covid-19, along with his mum and his 84-year-old dad.

Raymond Ooi, the son of Malaysian composer-songwriter Datuk Ooi Eow Jin, passed away on Monday at 2.38pm. He was 58 years old.of Raymond’s death, which was later confirmed by Raymond's mother Datin Elaine Khaw."We managed to have a video call with him this afternoon," said Khaw of her last communication with Raymond.

"My husband is doing better but I am not too well and my son's condition is very serious. He's on oxygen support," Khaw toldOn July 7, she shared:"My son is getting worse every day. Today, the doctor told us that he could leave us anytime. They have changed the antibiotics but nothing is working."The famed pianist was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2015 which left him with little motor function.
