An upcoming live-action remake of an animated movie will fix a long-running Disney trend concerning the studios’ live-action adaptations.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The upcoming live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon can fix one of the long-running problems found in Disney's attempts at live-action adaptations of classic animated films. Beginning in 2010 with Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, a new age of adapting classic Disney animations to live-action began.

Despite the obvious commercial success of Disney's animation to live-action remakes, the critical reception has varied with several receiving recurring criticisms. Interestingly, a rival studio seemed to be taking a leaf out of Disney's book when it was announced that a live-action How to Train Your Dragon remake was in the works by DreamWorks’ parent company Universal Pictures.

Upon the announcement of the How to Train Your Dragon remake, Deadline reported that Dean DeBlois - writer-director of the original animated trilogy - was tapped to write, direct, and produce the live-action version. Through DeBlois' return, How to Train Your Dragon can avoid the issues that have affected some of Disney's live-action remakes.

Disney’s Other Studios Could Further Fix The Issue With Live-Action Remakes Aside from How to Train Your Dragon's remake coming from the original director, there are other elements within Disney's conglomerate that could alleviate the issues with the studio's live-action remakes. Lucasfilm is another studio owned by Disney which recently released Ahsoka to immense critical and commercial success on Disney+.

After working on The Clone Wars and its spiritual successor, the animated Star Wars Rebels, Filoni made the leap to live-action filmmaking with The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka. His success in the latter three series saw Filoni be hired to direct one of the three upcoming Star Wars movies.
