One of San Antonio best pizza restaurants, Playland downtown, announced it will close next month
Stefan Bowers, chef and owner of downtown’s Playland, announced today on his Facebook page that the restaurant’s last day of service will be June 30. Bowers was unavailable for an interview but confirmed the closing via text message.
“To our guests and restaurant family, my gratitude can’t be put in to words,” Bowers wrote in the post. “I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.” He went on to explain that the decision to close was prompted by an opportunity to move out of the business’ Houston Street location. “There’s numerous details and it was a tough decision, but a positive one, and most importantly, one I believe ensures what makes our restaurant culture so amazing lives long into the future,” Bowers wrote.downtown at the corner of Broadway and Interstate 35. Bowers and business partner Andrew Goodman opened Playland in 2018. At the time, the two had collaborated on several of the city’s top restaurants including Feast, Battalion and Rebelle. Bowers and Goodman parted ways in 2021, and
