Baird's Colin Sebastian argues Amazon's successes are based primarily on "unique vision, keen investments, and a strong engineering orientation"...
For more than a year, Amazon.com Inc. has braced for the Federal Trade Commission’s major antitrust action, led by Lina Khan.
Khan, who is FTC chair, authored a 2017 academic paper, “Amazon’s Anti-Trust Paradox,” that objected to Amazon’s AMZN alleged predatory pricing, vertical integration, and potential misuse of data. Yet since she took the reins at the agency two years, no significant action has taken place. A narrow case would likely highlight specific instances of anti-competitive behavior, which would be a “relatively benign scenario,” said Sebastian, who maintains an outperform rating on Amazon shares with a price target of $130.
