A study finding hominin presence going back almost half a million years changes the general consensus about how the genus Homo spread from Africa

But the Arabian Peninsula may have also played an important role as a bridge between Africa and Eurasia, a study published Wednesday in the journal NatureReseacer Huw Groucutt points at stone tools and animal bones were found in the brown layer of sediments. "Every phase of human occupation left a distinct kind of stone tool assemblage. Suggests multiple migrations into the area, by different populations and maybe even species of humans," Huw Groucutt said.
