There’s an odd new arrival on Perth Basin gas player Strike Energy’s shareholder register amid the takeover battle for Warrego Energy.

There’s a new name on the scene in the battle for the Perth Basin, and one sure to raise eyebrows given the heating up billionaires’ brawl.A company named Neweconomy com au Nominees Pty Limited has debuted in Strike Energy’s top 20 shareholders, with a small but not insignificant 0.734 per cent interest as at January 6.

There are two NewEconomy entities registered in Australia with the corporate regulator. One is in the hands of JPMorgan and the other is held by Aussie stockbroker Ord Minnett. Investors know Stokes-backed Beach Energy has bid and reversed out of Warrego Energy , which is getting chased by Gina Rhinehart’s Hancock Energy and Strike Energy. They also know Mineral Resources is hanging around the hoop with its 19.17 per cent stake in Warrego.
