The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) is planning to relocate its headquarters to a new five-acre site in Bukit Jalil by 2027, coinciding with Malaysia's hosting of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). The move is aimed at improving accessibility and proximity to sports facilities.
The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) aims to relocate to its new office, Olympic House Malaysia , by 2027, coinciding with Malaysia's hosting of the SEA Games. OCM secretary-general Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib acknowledged the complexity of moving from Wisma OCM on Jalan Hang Jebat to Bukit Jalil before the event.
The OCM has secured a five-acre plot adjacent to the National Hockey Stadium from the Malaysian Stadium Corporation through a land swap with Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB). Cabinet approval for the lease is pending. Once finalized, the land will be handed to MRCB for development. The plan encompasses a two-acre office building, along with parking, gardens, and training areas. The lease for Wisma OCM, established in 1991, extends until 2077. The move to Bukit Jalil prioritizes accessibility and proximity to sports facilities, mitigating traffic congestion around Wisma OCM in central Kuala Lumpur. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed the construction agreement in December 2022, following discussions with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh. Meanwhile, National Olympic Academy of Malaysia director Nicholas Chan highlighted the inaugural Malaysia Kidslympic event, featuring athletics, gymnastics, volleyball, baseball/softball, and modern pentathlon, sports that will also be contested at the upcoming SEA Games in Thailand
