Angel City clinched its spot in a 5-1 win against the Portland Thorns in front of a sellout crowd of 22,000 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday. The win moved Angel City up to a fifth-seed position. Although the Reign is unbeaten in its home games against Angel City, Angel City has only lost once in 11 league matches since interim head coach Becki Tweed took over on June 14.
As the Reign heads into the postseason, Rapinoe will get another chance to play in front of a home crowd. The retiring star was honored by the club on Oct. 6 in front of an NWSL record crowd of 34,130 fans. Rapinoe had already played her final match with the. Rapinoe has played in 115 regular-season games for the Reign and has scored 51 goals.
