Oil prices shoot higher amid reported drone attack on Saudi Aramco facility
Oil futures gained Tuesday amid a new report of alleged attacks on major Saudi facilities, which helped to raise supply concerns and push up prices.
West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery CLM9, +1.03% was up 17 cents, or 0.3%, at $61.21 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Oil-market volatility to kick off the week came as al-Falih said Monday through the country’s state-controlled news agency that there was ”significant damage” to two tankers, as those vessels tried to cross into the Persian Gulf early Sunday morning, local time, the Wall Street Journal reported.The Saudi incidents come just days after the U.S. said it would send an aircraft carrier and bombers over what the administration of President Donald Trump has described as an increased threat from Iran.
