According to Lucas County coroner Diane Scala-Bennett, Varnes died from bite injuries to her head, face and neck,Toledo Police Department spokesperson Officer Andrew Dlugosielski said Tuesday morning the dog
was a pit bull that belonged to Varnes, the newspaper reported. Lucas County Canine Care & Control officials said it was registered to Varnes’ daughter, Amelia.Amelia Varnes declined comment to the newspaper.
