Ohio State finished in the top-five of the Associated Press poll for a fifth time in six seasons.
It marked the fifth time in six seasons that the Buckeyes ended in the top five. The exception came last season, when they werefollowing a two-loss regular season led them to miss out on a berth in the College Football Playoff.
The Buckeyes, who returned to the playoff this past fall and finished with an 11-2 record, have had a final top-10 ranking for nine straight years.in the national championship game on Monday, was atop the final poll ahead of the Horned Frogs at No. 2 and Michigan at No. 3. The three teams were all seeded higher than Ohio State when the four-team field for the playoff was set last month.
