Police in Englewood fatally shot a dog on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened at about 1:35 p.m. in the area of 601 Englewood Parkway, police said. That address is in a busy shopping area.
Officers responded to the address on a report of an armed person who had threatened someone, police said on Twitter. A suspect vehicle was spotted and officers made a “high-risk traffic stop” in a parking lot. While ordering the driver out of the stopped vehicle, an “aggressive dog” exited and “charged” officers.
Officers shot the dog with a Taser and a firearm in order to protect themselves, police said. The dog was taken to a nearby veterinarian, where it died. Two people, who were not named, were taken into custody without further incident. Police did not say whether a gun was recovered from inside the vehicle that was stopped.
