KUANTAN, June 8 — The Pahang Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested two police officers and a policeman to assist in the investigation of bribery allegations involving a district police chief in the state.

In a statement, the MACC said two inspectors, aged 37 and 38, and a corporal, 43, were arrested together with a 37-year-old man this evening after giving their statements at the MACC office here today. On Tuesday, the MACC arrested a district police chief in the state to assist in investigations of allegations of receiving bribes of between RM20,000 and RM50,000 on a monthly basis, estimated to be worth more than RM1 million from 2017 to 2022.

The bribes were believed to be an inducement not to act against entertainment and massage centres in the district. In the same statement, the MACC also said the arrest of two immigration enforcement officers, aged 41 and 49, to assist in the investigations of allegations of accepting bribes from massage centre owners to speed up the process of renewing work permits for their foreign workers.confirmed the arrests but declined to comment further. — Bernama
