OAKLAND — The body of a man was pulled Monday morning from water near the Port of Oakland, but investigators were not clear about a cause of death, authorities said.
Just after 10:55 a.m., Oakland Fire Department firefighters received a call reporting a body seen floating in the water next to the shoreline in the 5100 block of 7th Street near the port’s Berth 35. Oakland police joined firefighters at the berth, where firefighters removed the body from the water and put it on a Coast Guard boat.
The boat carried the body to a fire station at the foot of Clay Street in Jack London Square. There, it was turned over to Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s staff.
