A’s manager Mark Kotsay believes his players have been able to stay focused despite concerns looming around the uncertainty of the trade deadline.

The August 2 trade deadline may be looming, but Oakland A’s players and staff said they’re strictly focused on playing ball. Before Sunday’s game against the Texas Rangers, manager Mark Kotsay said he has not discussed the trade deadline with players in the clubhouse.

“I understand my situation is different from a lot of guys here, and I might have a chance to get traded somewhere else,” Andrus said. “But I’m just trying to think about today’s game, and you know, if it happens, it happens. For now I’m going to try to enjoy being here.” Closer Lou Trivino has had a streaky season with a 6.83 ERA, but has also converted eight of his 10 save opportunities so far. He is filling in for an injured Dany Jiménez, who could pitch to hitters by Tuesday. The pitcher said he is “interested” in what happens over the next few days, but that he won’t let it affect how well he does his job.
