The man, believed to be in his 30s, was not wearing any pants or underwear when he was shot in the torso and leg.

Over the weekend, New York Police Department officers shot a pantless, knife-wielding man outside a precinct station house in Queens after the man allegedly crashed his SUV and set fire to it.

As authorities inside the precinct approached the man, he pulled out a 12-inch kitchen knife and moved towards them, prompting two officers to shoot at the suspect. The man — who was reportedly not wearing pants or underwear — was hit multiple times on his torso and leg, Harrison said. The suspect was then transported to the New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital and remains in stable condition as of Sunday evening.

Authorities found a blood-covered knife at the scene after the shooting. A picture of the weapon, seen by Newsweek, showed the kitchen knife with a hole in the blade, apparently from being hit by one of the bullets fired. “Regarding who the blood is from, we don’t know. No one was stabbed,” Harrison explained.

Anastasia Amanatidis, a 21-year-old waitress at a nearby restaurant, told the New York Daily News that the flames could be seen from the windows of her workplace. “I was serving these two girls and they said there’s this huge fire," she said. “It was really big because we’re two blocks away and we could see the flames and smoke.”
