Two NYPD Officers in Critical Condition After Shot in Harlem During Domestic Violence Call: Police Sources
One of the officers was pronounced dead, while the other was badly injured and rushed to Harlem Hospital in critical condition, senior NYP officials told NBC New York. He was undergoing surgery in an effort to save his life.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Lashawn McNeil, was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. A police source said a third cop at the scene, who is relatively new to the NYPD, shot McNeil after the two officers were struck by gunfire. Police said that Lashawn McNeil was the suspect believed to have shot both officers. He was shot by another NYPD officer, and pronounced dead at the scene.
