The woman who was mysteriously whisked away and carried off into a minivan on a Brooklyn street last week was not kidnapped, cops said Monday as they revealed that no crime had occurred.
A woman spotted being carried into a minivan and whisked away on a Brooklyn street — sparking fears she was kidnapped — was not actually the victim of a crime, police said Monday.
The NYPD had released surveillance footage last week showing a man grabbing the supposed victim and carrying her into his arms to the waiting van at the intersection of Avenue W and Stillwell Avenue in Gravesend. Cops began investigating after a witness called early Friday to report the disturbing sight. But the NYPD said Monday that its Major Case Squad was able to track down the man and woman and determined no crime was committed.Cops confirmed that the woman seen being carried into a minivan in Gravesend was not kidnapped.The footage showed the man appearing to approach the woman with his arm pointed at her before grabbing her and whisking her into a late-model Toyota minivan.
