NYC firefight stretches into fifth hour as Brooklyn burns
Firefighters were continuing to battle a fire that erupted at a Brooklyn lumber warehouse late Tuesday morning and rapidly spread, escalating to four alarms within an hour and causing significant damage.
No injuries had been reported in the Hewes Street blaze, which broke out shortly before 11 a.m. and was still flaming four and a half hours later. Flames had also spread to a three-story building next year.The cause of the fire is under investigation.FDNY Members are fighting a 4-alarm fire at 304 Hewes Street in Brooklyn. The call came in at 10:51 am. When units arrived, they found fire in a large commercial building containing a lot of lumber.
