Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue joined Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and Councilmember Ari Kagan in Coney Island to talk about water safety.
She wanted to remind beachgoers that lifeguards will be on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day starting on Saturday. Swimming is strictly prohibited at all other times.You can also protect your skin with free sunscreen in dispensers near all beach restrooms.Beach season also meant the kickoff to summer tourism in Coney Island.
"When people think about summer in New York, they definitely think about Coney Island!" Donoghue said. She noted that several attractions were open for the season including Dino's Wonder Wheel, Luna Park, Coney Island Aquarium, Nathan's Hot Dogs, the boardwalk, and minor league baseball.
