Ian Youngblood, a registered nurse from Arizona, left his home to help battle the coronavirus in New York City. Now, he's battling brain cancer.
. The cancer is terminal and has no known cure. Surgery is often required to remove the tumor, followed by radiation and chemotherapy.
“Chemo is gonna be expensive and we’re gonna try to really attack that tumor,” Youngblood told KNXV. The young nurse hopes to get well enough to continue traveling to help fight surges of coronavirus cases in other states. “I mean COVID is still ramping up all over the place,” he said. “It’s a calling, you know. If I am feeling well enough I may volunteer to go to Texas where cases are skyrocketing.”
