NTT Data has announced its proposed acquisition of a 68.5-acre land parcel in Gelang Patah, Johor Bahru.

According to a statement from the company, the site will be developed into one of the largest data center campuses in the APAC region, featuring six dedicated buildings with a total IT load capacity of approximately 290 megawatts . The first building, with an initial capacity of 48 MW, is expected to launch in April 2027.

Yasuo Suzuki, Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Japan and APAC at Global Data Centers, NTT Data, added, “Expanding in Gelang Patah strengthens Malaysia's digital infrastructure, supports APAC economic growth, fosters innovation, and creates new job opportunities.”
