Unvaccinated people in the NT will be subject to tough new lockout rules after the Territory recorded its highest number of COVID-19 cases to date.

A lockout will be introduced today and remain until midday on MondayThe NT has recorded 256 new cases of COVID-19, including 27 cases of community transmission, Chief Minister Michael Gunner said.It is the highest daily record for the jurisdiction to date.

"The fully vaccinated can continue as they were. For people who are not vaccinated, lockdown rules will apply to everyone aged 16 and above," Mr Gunner said. Unvaccinated people cannot travel more than 30 kilometres from their home when leaving for one of the three reasons, unless you are going to hospital.
