The parents of Rebecca Mullen - one of the 10 victims of the Hunter Valley bus crash - are joining the fight for stronger bus safety regulations as investigations continue. SophieUpcroft has the details. 9News MORE:
On Tuesday, they met with NSW Premier Chris Minns and Roads Minister Jo Haylen, who committed to working with them on those points.The group is confident that they will see real progress in the coming weeks.The state government finalised its own inquiry on Monday but the findings are yet to be released.Gaffney is a road safety engineer with 40 years of experience and believes the road the bus crashed on wasn't up to scratch.
"I was surprised how bad it actually was in terms of an 80km speed zone and in terms of an egg-shaped roundabout with negative camber which means the road is sloping the wrong way," he told 9News last week.The plan includes making speed limiting and monitoring devices mandatory similar to a black box in an aeroplane.Continue reading
