NSW Police appeal for information about the suspicious death of high-profile surfer, Guy Haymes, who was assaulted inside a Manly unit in February of this year and later died in hospital.

Guy Haymes was assaulted inside a Manly unit and sustained serious head injuries in February. Police have appealed to witnesses and anyone with information regarding Mr Haymes's death to come forward.

Guy Haymes, 59, who was known as 'Creature' to his friends, was at a unit on Pittwater Road in Manly when he was assaulted on February 27 of this year, according to investigators.He was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital but died 15 days later.Detective Superintendent Patrick Sharkey today said police were appealing for witnesses and people with information about the "serious assault" to come forward.

"Our whole family is in shock and disbelief that he had his life cut short, and in such a brutal way. Not knowing what happened that day and not having the answers is the hardest part.Mark Haymes said his brother's unresolved death had left his family with "an empty feeling".
