NRMA Spokesperson Peter Khoury says New South Wales is “not alone” in the massive increase in deaths on roads. Nationally deaths on roads have had a major increase, going up by seven per cent to 721 from the beginning of January to the end of July. “We have seen a considerable jump in 2023, 250 deaths in New South Wales alone. “The 12-month rolling period is well over 1,200 deaths, so not good news anywhere. “Particularly bad in New South Wales where we are working so hard to see the road toll reduced.”
