NSW Opposition Leader Mark Speakman has vowed to work with every elected member of parliament despite describing Mark Latham’s homophobic comments as 'reprehensible' and 'appalling'.

The NSW One Nation leader is facing a police investigation and potential defamation case against him over a homophonic tweet posted on March 30, which sparked widespread condemnation from both sides of politics.

Mr Speakman - who was elected as Liberal leader last month - said although Mr Latham's comments are"reprehensible" he will continue to work with him like every other elected member of parliament. "I have to work with Animal Justice, Legalise Cannabis, One Nation, Labor, the Greens, the Nationals and I will work with anyone who is in the parliament.”

“If we chose not to work with people we vigorously disagree with there may be very few people left at times to work within the parliament,” he added. However, last month NSW Premier Chris Minns made it clear he will not work with Mr Latham in any capacity and accused the One Nation leader of attempting to import"US-style politics" to Australia.have also voiced their horror at the tweet.
