The NSW Labor electric bus experienced an unexpected hurdle on its campaign trail when the eco-friendly vehicle suddenly ran out of power, with Chris Minns later light-heartedly revealing the reason behind the mid-trip hiccup.

The net zero emissions vehicle was travelling Labor staffers and representatives from major media organisations ahead of Saturday's state election.

"I forgot to charge it last night and as a result it broke down," Mr Minns told reporters, making light of the situation. "We will be ready for tomorrow, no doubt about it."

"It's no surprise to me that Labor's bus has broken down just like their budget broke down yesterday," Mr Perrottet told reporters.
