More than 200,000 people in NSW have returned to work since COVID-19 restrictions were eased, prompting Treasurer Dominic Perrottet to warn that the economy cannot shut down again | AlexSmithSMH

More than 200,000 people in NSW have returned to work since COVID-19 restrictions were eased, prompting Treasurer Dominic Perrottet to warn that the economy cannot shut down again.

"My view is that we should be doing everything we can to keep our economy open as much as possible," Mr Perrottet said. "But what is hidden behind all that is the jobs numbers and the impact that is going to have on our state downstream. I don't want to see us go into lockdown." On the back of the outbreaks, the government has tightened restrictions on the hospitality industry, with group bookings reduced from 20 to 10 people and no more than 300 people in pubs and clubs.
