Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia beat Kano Pillars Football Club of Kano 2-0 on Sunday in a Week 4 match of the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL. Sunday Megwo gave the host the lead in the 15th minute of the encounter, which sent the home supporters into ecstasy.
Playing in front of a large supporters base, the Umuahia-based team increased the pressure on the visiting team but goalkeeper Idreesu Ibrahim of Kano Pillars made an important save in the 20th minute of the game. Warriors got their second goal in the 37th minute to make it 2-0 in the first half for the Coach Imama Amakapabo-led team.
In the second half, Kano Pillars came out sharp, in search of goals but their efforts were thwarted by the host team's defence line. The 2-0 victory takes Abia Warriors to 5 points from 4 matches. They lost their first match 0-2 to Remo Stars of Ikenne in Umuahia before drawing 1-1 and 0-0 against Akwa United and Sunshine Stars, respectively. Meanwhile, Rivers United of Port Harcourt defeated Enyimba FC of Aba by 2-0 on Sunday.
