CAMP NAKAR, Lucena City, Quezon – The police and military unearthed a New People's Army arms cache in Sariaya, this province, on Friday, August 18.

Quezon police director Police Col. Ledon Monte said the 1st Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company and the 59th Infantry Battalion discovered two improvised explosive devices, two firearms, and assorted ammunition in a forested area in Barangay Castañas, Sariaya.

On the other hand, a former NPA rebel surrendered a caliber .45 pistol with bullets, a rifle grenade, and explosives materials to the police and military in Catanauan, this province. Monte said that the arms cache was owned by the NPA Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee in Quezon. He said the discovery of the weapons stash was a result of the police campaign to free this province from the clutches of the NPA.
