Novavax just published early data on its coronavirus vaccine, and now the company is gearing up for a massive study

A potential coronavirus vaccine developed by a tiny biotech appeared to show positive early results in humans.

The results, published Tuesday, are the latest encouraging sign in the global effort to develop a vaccine for the novel coronavirus, which has killed nearly 700,000 people around the world. But the Novavax data, much like results recently published by Moderna and AstraZeneca, are too preliminary to draw any conclusions about how well the vaccine might protect against Covid-19, experts said. There are more than 160 coronavirus vaccine candidates being developed.

The best responses came from volunteers who received two injections of Novavax's vaccine three weeks apart, plus an adjuvant meant to boost its effects. After 35 days, those participants had neutralizing antibody levels that, on average, were roughly four times higher than what was seen in a group of 32 patients who had recovered from the disease.

It's also impossible to directly compare Novavax's product, NVX-CoV2373, against other vaccines in development, said Kathryn Edwards, scientific director of the Vanderbilt Vaccine Research Program in Nashville, Tenn.

Jeanine Pirro Wouldn't Take a Coronavirus Vaccine Even If One ExistedJeanine Pirro Wouldn't Take a Coronavirus Vaccine Even If One ExistedIn the bowels of the internet is a web series you have likely never heard of called London Real, hosted by a man named Brian Rose. London Real is a series of “long format interviews” with what it purports are “the most important voices in the world.” In July, one of these important voices was former state judge and Fox News host who has never been drunk on air Jeanine Pirro, who participated in an interview with Rose about America’s freedom. The topic of freedom somehow devolved into Pirro voicing her disdain over the idea of a vaccine for coronavirus, a medical development that she claims she would refuse to put in her body.
