Notre Dame is coming off a 56-3 win against Tennessee State in which Hartman threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns. The Fighting Irish defense didn’t allow a touchdown for a second straight game.
Hartman is 33-of-40 passing for 445 yards and six TDs in his two games for Notre Dame. He added to his FBS-leading numbers in several categories for active quarterbacks. The Wake Forest graduate transfer has 116 career touchdowns, 13,412 passing yards and a 36-game streak of being responsible for at least one TD.
N.C. State opened its season with a 24-14 win last week at Connecticut. Quarterback Brennan Armstrong, a Shelby graduate, threw for 155 yards and ran for 96 yards with two TDs to lead them on a Thursday night. The grad transfer from Virginia completed 17 of 26 passes and carried the ball 19 times, including on touchdown runs of 4 and 8 yards.
N.C. State safety Rakeim Ashford won’t play this weekend after he was taken off the field on a stretcher at Connecticut, coach Dave Doeren said Monday. Ashford spent Thursday night in the hospital for tests before being released on Friday and returning to Raleigh. Doeren said Ashford will play again, but the timetable is uncertain.What:
