Instead, Mr Albanese has come up with limited and partisan inquiry that seems set to focus on the actions and missteps of the Morrison government rather than the hardline lockdowns and virus eradication strategies of state governments, particularly Labor governments in Victoria and Western Australia.
The March 2022 report of the inquiry into COVID-19 commissioned by philanthropic groups and chaired by the former head of the Prime Minister’s Department, Peter Shergold, concluded that policy decision-making processes lacked transparency, and were made by small groups of political and health officials with limited knowledge and experience.
