KUALA LUMPUR: It is not suitable to establish a national health services commission for now, says Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
Dr Zaliha said forming a health services commission would only contradict the functions of the Public Services Commission.
The Pakatan Harapan in its 15th General Election manifesto planned to solve the contract doctors issues by setting up a National Health Services Commission to reinforce the management of human resources, staffing, training and career growth of the healthcare staff. "The formation of the health services commission would not provide authoritative powers to create new positions or draft a remuneration system including setting a competitive emolument rate for the service commission officers.
