MIRI: Barely a week after grappling with forest fires, four districts in central and northern Sarawak were hit by floods Monday morning.
Several schools and villages were inundated in the Limbang, Mukah, Daro and Bintulu districts on Monday morning, following heavy rain.
In its latest update, the Sarawak Disaster Relief Committee said six schools and two villages were flooded. They are SK Kubung, SK Ulu Lubai, SK Nanga Merit, Kampung Pengaran, Rumah Intai longhouse, SK Kampung Daro, SK Gerawan and SK Bukit Mawang.So far, there have been no evacuations, the committee added.
Agencies such as the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Unit have deployed personnel to the flood-hit sites.
